Dear TMGC members
Welcome back TMGC members! Thankfully the winter is over and itís time to dust off the clubs. The Board has been working hard over the winter to put together what I hope will be a great tournament schedule. The event list is much the same as 2012, although you may see a few more individual events as we look to strike a solid balance between single and team tournaments.
Most importantly, we are defending both of our Interclub trophies this year! Participation has been awesome for these events (Wintonbury and Rolling Meadows) so Iím hoping for more of the same this year. For weekend golfers like us, this really is the closest we will get to playing in a Ryder Cup and the team camaraderie we have in these events has been awesome!
Another goal I had in 2012 was to make the Match Play tournament more member friendly. Itís a big commitment to enter qualifying as you could be playing as many as 7 total rounds of golf associated with this tournament. Based on some feedback I have gotten it seems like that has been the case. Word of mouth has spread and we had a huge increase in participation last year. 77 individuals were vying for the 64 spots in the singles tournament and 46 teams for the 32 spots in the two man tournament. The more participation we get in these events the better the prizes are for those who advance far enough in the brackets.
Ringers has been growing every year and because of that weíve been able to pay out higher and deeper in this season long event. We broke the 150 barrier last year, why not 200 this year? This is one of our two CASH payout events (along with the Hole-in-One pool). There are gross and net payouts for this tournament and weíve seen in the results from prior years that even higher handicaps make their way into the Top 10 on the gross side too. Make sure to get your $10 before your first round of the season so you donít lose that rare birdie or eagle on your season scorecard.
For those of you I havenít met or played with I look forward to hopefully sharing the tee with you this season!
