> Handicap and Rules Chairman Dear Fellow Members: Welcome back to returning members, to new members joining us for the first time and new members who were a part of our group in years past. It was nice to see and meet many of you at our recent spring banquet. What a great way to start the 2008 golf season. I would like to take this opportunity to say because of our membership, we are one of the best run Men’s Clubs in the area. Since our inception our club has been the beneficiary of valuable member input and support of the organization and operation of the club. This promotes an ongoing and successful relationship between the Men’s Club and the Topstone Head Golf Professional and his staff. Add in the excellent course conditions and we have a truly unique place to play one of life’s passions. All Men’s Club events are governed by the Rules of Golf as adopted by the USGA. To maintain the high quality and success of our Men’s Club it is important for you to be familiar with these rules. USGA rules and important rules changes for 2008 can be accessed at USGA. I encourage each of you to take some time and explore this site and become knowledgeable about what it has to offer all of us. Any variances from these rules will be posted on the first tee on the day of the event. Knowledge of local rules and pace of play go hand in hand with an enjoyable, good paced round of golf at Topstone GC. Please read through the links at left to help understand the importance of Ready Golf and being ready to play when it is your turn. Additionally, your knowledge of Local Rules is important. You never know when a local rule may save you a stroke or two during a round of golf, or may save you the time it takes to make that long and possibly unnecessary walk back to the tee to hit your third shot. Finally, please contact me should you have questions and recommendations about rules, handicap or pace of play issues. I look forward in hearing about your ideas and suggestions for improving our club. Thank you and enjoy your golf season. |
